Today is a good day to begin blogging. I have a firm belief in a God who hears, who longs to have his people draw near to him and seek to understand his heart. He longs to have all people turn to him in faith, believing that he alone can bring the deepest fulfillment to their lives. But not every human being in his creation will do this. And he chooses not to supersede human free will. He is a gentleman God and he won't force himself on anyone.
Today is the National Day of Prayer, a time set aside for remembering to intercede for our country together in small groups or large. God says to his followers: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear [their prayer] from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country." II Chronicles 7
I'm praying today that many will humble themselves and search for God with all their hearts. I'm praying for our government leaders to hear God's voice and willingly allow him to guide their decisions. But whether they willingly do so or not, God still is sovereign and governs this nation and all nations. Not that his will is always done in this world, but ultimately he will have the final word.

Vonnie,
ReplyDeleteI feel a need to have more believers pray. I think it was Chuck Swindoll who said you can't hate a man you're praying for. Maybe the converse is true, you can't love someone you're not praying for. I know as I pray, I start seeing issues and people with a different perspective - I hope what I'm seeing is the way our Father is seeing things.
May your heart be as Daddy's heart.
John
Amen, Vonnie. I know this was posted many months ago -- remember that your words are powerful. Continue to inspire, friend. Love you!
